The collection “SALAWAS” tells the story of the traditionally handwoven Dhurries from Rajasthan. The charm of the Dhurrie not only lies in its beauty: Dhurries are a legacy of love as they are traditionally woven by young women as a precious part of their dowries. Intrigued by the heritage of the Dhurrie we designed ecclectic clutch bags featuring contemporary Dhurrie weaves with cheerful Rajasthani embellishments. Each clutch bag is handwoven and represents a blend of traditional handicraft and fashion.

We tell stories
The indigo houses of Jodhpur, the faded wall of a medieval tomb in Old Delhi, the sunset over Marine Drive in Mumbai – images and related emotions like that serve as our inspirations. We take these inspirations, combine them with our design understanding and transform them into actual designs and textures. That is how we achieve our signature style that makes our designs stand out in Berlin, Paris, Hong Kong as much as they do in New York. “I wanted to do more than just creating beautiful designs. I sought to tell visual stories through my collections.” – Vera Fritsch, founder
About the designer
Vera Fritsch, the core designer and founder of the brand ‘Monsoon and Beyond’ was born and brought up in Austria. She had previously lived in France, England, Italy and Sweden before she made India her home. She came to India in 2007 on a diplomatic mission and fell in love with the country. Her love for India is reflected in her collections which are suitably named after Indian cities and places of cultural heritage. When she moved to India, she converted her passion for design into a profession. The core idea is to bring India`s beauty, culture and magic to everyone`s home around the world. She has collaborated with artisans across India and has incorporated Indian handicraft techniques which resulted in a perfect synergy between design and handicraft.
